2025–2026 Academic Year Fall Semester Course Selection Announcement

Dear Students,

Course selection procedures for the 2025–2026 Academic Year Fall Semester will be carried out on 22–23–24 September 2025. Course selection is mandatory for all students and must be completed through the BYS system (bys.subu.edu.tr) with advisor approval.

Important Points for Course Selection

I. Reviewing the Curriculum

  • Before selecting courses, students should review the 8-semester curriculum of their department under the Faculty of Applied Sciences at ebs.bys.subu.edu.tr.

II. ECTS Rules

  • Courses offered in the current semester total 30 ECTS.

  • Students with failed courses from previous semesters may select up to 30 ECTS + 2 courses or a maximum of 40 ECTS.

  • Students with failed courses must first select the courses from lower semesters, then courses from the current semester.

III. Updates in the Course Program

  • Updates have been made to the 8-semester curriculum this term.

  • Some courses have been removed and replaced with new ones.

  • Students who previously failed a removed course are required to take the replacement course(s).

IV. For First-Year Students

  • In the first semester, all courses except Academic Studies I are compulsory.

  • Students must register for all compulsory courses.

  • If Academic Studies I is selected:

    • Students must follow the SUBU Talks on YouTube every Wednesday at 14:00, followed by an exam.

    • Students who successfully complete Academic Studies I may take Academic Studies II in the following semester.

    • Students who successfully complete both Academic Studies I and II may count these courses in place of the University Common Elective course in the 7th semester.

    • If Academic Studies is taken and failed, it will be automatically removed from the transcript and treated as if it had never been taken.

V. For Second-, Third-, and Fourth-Year Students

  • Course selection must comply with the 8-semester curriculum.

  • Students may choose up to 30 ECTS + 2 courses or a maximum of 40 ECTS.

VI. For Students Admitted Through Vocational School Transfers

  • These students cannot register through the online system.

  • They must visit the faculty in person between 29 September – 3 October 2025 and complete course registration by submitting the course selection form attached.

Important Notes

  • Course selection must be completed with advisor approval.

  • Elective courses that have been closed will be announced on 25 September 2025.

  • The system will be open for re-selection of elective courses on 26–27–28 September 2025.

  • Between 29 September – 3 October 2025, only students with a valid excuse (e.g., illness, death of a first-degree relative, etc.) may complete course registration. An official document proving the excuse is required.
