At our event organized in collaboration with Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Applied Sciences and the From Zero to the Top Entrepreneurship Community, we will discuss lean management and Toyota’s management culture through real field experiences.

Our speaker, Yılmaz Akbaba, has a total of 37 years of professional experience, including 32 years in the automotive industry. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the dissemination of Toyota’s production and management culture in Türkiye, particularly within the supplier ecosystem.

Akbaba’s career journey has been shaped in the following institutions:

  • YOKOTEN Training & Consulting – 12 years, Founder and Lean Management Consultant
  • TKG Automotive – 2 years, Executive Board Member
  • Toyota Türkiye – 19 years, Engineering and Management Roles
  • TÜBİTAK-SAGE – 4 years, Researcher

During his time at Toyota, he also worked in Japan at the company’s headquarters, gaining firsthand experience of Japanese production culture and management systems. In this period, he actively took part in critical projects such as know-how transfer, supplier development, and the dissemination of Toyota’s production philosophy through work carried out in Japanese factories and supplier networks.

Today, through his consulting company, he provides training and consultancy services on Toyota’s production and management philosophy—such as Lean Production (TPS), Hoshin Kanri, and Toyota Business Practices (TBP)—to many companies ranked among Türkiye’s top 500 industrial enterprises.
